On Monday Girl Guides from all over the world celebrated World Thinking Day (which is equivalent to Founders’ Day for the Scouts). World Thinking Day is held on the 22nd February (Baden Powell’s birthday) every year and is an opportunity for Girl Guides of all ages and in all countries
World Thinking Day has been celebrated since 1926 on 22nd February by all Girl Guides and Girl Scouts; a day for focusing on our Guiding Promise and international friendship. February 22nd was chosen as it was the birthday of Scouting and Guiding founder Lord Robert Baden-Powell and his wife Lady Olave Baden-Powell who was World Chief Guide. On Sunday
On Sunday 21st February Maggie Jones, our County Commissioner took a group from Girlguiding Birmingham to the annual Flag Raising Ceremony outside Birmingham Council House. The weather was chilly but dry and it was lovely to have brownies, guides and senior section girls taking part together in such an important tradition.
On the Tuesday of the half term holiday over 100 brownies and rainbows came together at Trefoil House for the Kusafiri Activity Day. The whole day was held in celebration of the opening of the new WAGGGS Fifth World Centre in Africa, and the activities were based around the sights, smells and sounds of
